Distillery Controller/Bookkeeper

We have a tasting room bar, as well as many private events.
Join Tenmile Distillery, to work alongside exceptional distillers and energetic professionals at a growing, independent whisky distillery.
Currently, we are selling our gin and vodka to the wider market in anticipation of our first release of whisky this spring 2023.
We believe in creating fine craft spirits from scratch with ingredients sourced from New York State and we are looking for an interested and responsible team member to join us as a controller/bookkeeper.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and organized individual that is interested in the craft spirits industry.
The person who fills this position will be comfortable using various software platforms including Quickbooks, Square, FIVE x 5 and Excel and happy working closely with the sales and inventory managers to ensure that invoices are in order and vendors are paid.
In addition to ensuring our sales and operations progress smoothly, the bookkeeper will have the opportunity to learn the distilling process through hands-on training with our distillers if they find that useful to the performance of their duties.
Tasks and Responsibilities Create and issue invoices to customers Manage invoices from vendors Ensure that invoices are received and paid promptly Track daily transactions and manage day-to-day banking Monitor daily cash and credit card reconciliations Assist with the reconciliation of E-Commerce Monthly Inventory Costing Tax Filing Preparation Ensure legal requirements compliance in regards to New York State Liquor Authority and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Preparation of financial statements and budgets Process reports of accounts payable and receivable Historical review and data analysis as needed Track any changes in pricing, interest, or taxation Coordinating with professional accounting firm for quarterly review of company accounts and statements Requirements Degree or Certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping required.
Three years prior Accounting or Bookkeeping experience required Understanding of costing for manufacturing a must Proficient in Quickbooks Strong grasp of Square and FIVE x 5 Advanced in MS Office (Excel, Outlook) Knowledge of New York State and federal liquor tax laws is a plus Detail Oriented Good written and verbal communication skills Highly organized Ability to work independentlyAccountant Duties and
